The Best And Worst Rated Manchester United Players Against West Ham

Anthony Martial

Manchester United Player Ratings

David De Gea- 6/10

Made a crucial save when Moses was through on goal. However, spilt an Aaron Cresswell cross that almost led to West Ham opening the scoring.

Paddy McNair- 5/10

He was played out of position and didn’t seem comfortable at all, although he did put in one or two good balls. Replaced by debutant Varela at half-time. LVG suggested he might have had an injury.

Chris Smalling-7/10

Was one of United’s best players on the pitch once again. Didn’t allow Carroll to influence the game much. He did just about enough to deny Zarate after De Gea spilt Cresswell’s ball.

Daley Blind- 5.5/10

Gave the ball away in a dangerous area which almost led to West Ham taking the lead. He wasn’t as assured on the ball as he normally is.

Matteo Darmian- 6/10

Playing at left-back, it was a better performance than in recent times. He did deliver one great ball across the box that no one gambled on. However, his crossing was pretty poor at key moments.

Morgan Schneiderlin- 6/10

Made a few very good interceptions. His injury just before half-time would be a cause for concern to LVG.

Bastian Schweinsteiger- 6/10

He looked to go forward constantly and provide an added threat to the United attack. Had a decent chance that he blasted over the bar.

Juan Mata- 5/10

It was yet another poor performance from Mata. Didn’t influence the game at all and he seems to have fallen into a rut. He’s not justifying his place in the XI at the moment.

Marouane Fellaini- 6/10

He did create a problem or two for West Ham with his physical prowess. Had a decent chance to give United the lead, but was denied by Adrian.

Jesse Lingard- 6.6/10

Lingard looked bright and seemed one of the most likely to make something happen. Looked to take on defenders making some good runs down the left hand side.

Anthony Martial- 6/10

Martial looked lively in the second half especially. Had a decent chance to win it and he should have really hit the back of the net.

Substitutes:

Michael Carrick-5.5/10

Didn’t make that much of an impact. However, he played some quick, incisive forward balls that started attacks, including a good move before Mata fired wide.

Guillermo Varela- 6/10

Made his debut for United coming on at half-time for Paddy McNair. Did a decent job, however Zarate did seem to trouble him from time to time.

Memphis Depay- 6.6/10

One of his much better performances in the Premier League. He showed a desire to win the game. He was lively and he set up a good chance for Martial, only for the Frenchman to fire wide.
