Left-Back Alexander Buttner Leaves Manchester United For Dynamo Moscow

A third defender has left Old Trafford and Executive Vice-Chairman Ed Woodward is yet to bring in replacements, although the Luke Shaw deal is believed to be in the pipeline.

The Guardian confirm reports that Alexander Buttner has left Manchester United after only two seasons, to join Russian side Dynamo Moscow.

The 25 year-old has stated he has left United because he wants to win trophies and also that he believes incoming manager Louis van Gaal does not rate him as a player.

He is probably one of the first players in years to leave Old Trafford stating ambition as one of the main reasons for the departure, but things are certainly changing.

Although, in his two season in the England he made only 13 appearances in the Premier League and posed very little threat to Patrice Evra for the left-back spot.

The Dutchman claims that new manager Louis van Gaal has constantly overlooked him while in-charge of the Netherlands national team or doesn’t want the same next year.

In my opinion as long as he is replaced by Luke Shaw or another suitable player, this is no real loss for United, Buttner always seemed a rather strange signing.

In fairness to the former Ajax man, he is not willing to stay at a big club, earn a big salary and warm the bench. In modern football that is quite rare thing to see.

Next season will offer a new opportunity for Buttner and also a chance to play European football with Dynamo Moscow in the Europa League.
