Muller IS Willing To Leave Bayern Munich This Summer: Is He Out Of United’s Reach?

When Pep Guardiola was announced as Jupp Heynckes’ successor at Bayern Munich, many wondered whether he would change or the team. We’re starting to get our answer.

The Daily Star reports that Muller has become increasingly frustrated with his inconsistent selection for the starting team and being played out of position when chosen.

It’s surprising that the German International isn’t included from the start more, considering he was the Bavarian’s most influential midfielder.

This season he was the team’s second highest goalscorer behind striker Mario Mandzukic with 13 goals and provided the most assists with 10. (Squawka)

But when it comes to philosophy and style of play Guardiola doesn’t want the best players playing, he wants the right players, who fit into the system and buy into it.

For me Muller always seemed the most likely to go from the Heynckes team, a very powerful, direct and effective player but not a ‘Pep player’.

Muller enjoys playing in either a striking role or the number 10 role behind the front line, but this season he has been used out-wide or as a box-to-box style midfielder.

Undoubtedly, if Thomas Muller were to become available, Manchester United would most definitely be in for him, but even more so with Louis van Gaal as manager.

Muller developed a relationship with the Dutchman during his time at Bayern, as it was van Gaal who gave Muller his chance in the first team.

Could this move happen? Possibly.

Muller will be hot property if he becomes available, but I suppose it comes down to whether his bond with van Gaal will be able to mask the fact that Manchester United have no Champions League football.
