Why Anderson Doesn’t Deserve To Be At Manchester United Anymore

The future of Brazilian midfielder Anderson is one of many issues, which manager Louis van Gaal and executive vice chairman Ed Woodward need to address.

The Daily Telegraph has reported that Anderson’s future at Old Trafford, along with several other players will be decided by van Gaal as he looks to build his new team.

Much was expected of the Brazilian when he was signed from Porto for £26 million back in 2007, but the majority of fans see his time in Manchester as a failure.

He made only eight appearances last season under David Moyes, before being shipped out to Fiorentina on-loan where he didn’t fare much better.

During his six months in Florence he made only seven league appearances, scoring no goals, providing no assists and only achieving a 79% pass accuracy. (Squawka)

With Fiorentina seemingly unwilling to take Anderson and his £60,000 a week salary off United’s books, it will be down to van Gaal to decide what to do with him.

I really can’t see van Gaal or Woodward agreeing to keep on a serial underachiever like Anderson, a return to former club Porto could be an option but the salary could be a stumbling block.

For me, he has to go. He has had ample time to nail down a place in various United squads and never has.

In my opinion, the fact that £26 million was spent on him makes him one of the biggest mistakes of the Ferguson era. (Apart of course from Paul Pogba!)
