Why Paul Scholes Is My Favourite Player

Everybody has a favourite player but for me I have two which share that honour and one of them is Ryan Giggs. The other being our 38 year old magician Paul Scholes.

Yes. Paul Scholes is one of my favourite United players and one of the best I have ever seen grace the European and world stages of Football. A man that is described by Xavi as having it all ranging from strength, his ability to score goals and one thing we all know that he rarely gives the ball away.

I believe Xavi is the world’s best central midfielder right now and if he has said that about Paul Scholes then Scholesy isn’t a half bad player is he? Pretty far from it. He is one of the world’s best.

Even at the grand old age of 38 Scholes is still pulling the strings in our midfield when playing and always delivers. Even after being at United for the vast majority of his life he is still a key component to this United team and boy did he show that last season because he was one of the components we were missing and made a massive difference when he came out of retirement which felt just as good as winning a trophy.

The ginger magician who started off playing just off the front-man in the mid 90’s who was then subject of a position transfer from Ferguson who gave him the role of playing in the engine room with Roy Keane which saw us go on to play fantastic Football and win a lot of trophies in the process with Paul still being a massive part of that United side.

Even to this day he is still a reason why this club enjoys success on the pitch, he is still dictating in the middle of the park with Michael Carrick when selected and fit and Xavi was right. If he was Spanish he would get the recognition he deserves. Scholes for me is the lad born in Salford who played as if he was bought up at the Barcelona academy from the age of 6.

Looking at the quotes from everyone in the world of Football on Paul Scholes makes me so proud to be a red and makes me appreciate what talent we have. There is no one in the world capable of replacing him. He is one in a million he really is. You’ll never find a player like him again or you might in 200 years if you’re very, very lucky.

A world class passer, fantastic range, superb shot, scintillating vision and unlimited creativity. These are all in Paul’s make up as a player and all of that will be missed if he does retire which I reckon he will at the end of the season. I can’t thank the man enough for his service for us in nearly 20 years of being a first team player and one of Fergie’s succesful fledlings which turned into one of United’s all time greatest players which he is and always will be remembered as.

I feel so proud and honoured to support the mighty Manchester United football club because of him.

  1. I agree with you about Scholes but all my good memories about him are beginning to fade as he carries on playing
and not 50 per cent of what he used to be.
Gone are the goals he used to score from all over the field, gone is the tackling he could do once but now ends in a yellow card.
Gone is the passing that made the goal assists and now itis more side ways and backwards.
Please Paul call it a day.

Giggs has also I think ran its course. If you watch him as soon as he gets the ball its a big boot up the field, 99 times out of a 100 going to the opposition. When will the manager realise that we need more energetic and better players.
