Some Free Agents Premier League Clubs Should Be Looking At

Despite transfer fee’s skyrocketing out of normality, there’s always good-money to be made in the market, especially when you consider the free-agents that are there for the taking. Here are eight players who Premier League teams should defiantly look at.

Jose Bosingwa – The Portuguese international has just come of the back of winning an FA Cup and Champions League double with Chelsea. At 29 years old, he still has 3-4 years left at the top level. European football is a must and a move to Arsenal might be an option both parties might take what with Bacary Sagna’s injury worries.

Carlos Cuellar – Despite suffering with injuries over the last couple of seasons since his move from Rangers to Villa Park, there’s no doubt that Cuellar could do a job for most teams in the division. A return to Ibrox seemed on the cards last year but with their financial problems, the likelihood is Cuellar will return to Spain and play in La Liga.

Mohammed Diame – No football fan in the country had heard of the powerful Senegalese midfielder before Roberto Martinez signed him from Rayo Vallecano in the summer of 2009. He was rumoured to be joining Liverpool before Kenny Dalglish was sacked and would strengthen any top team given his potential and physical presence to boss games.

Craig Gordon – One of Roy Keane’s success stories at Sunderland, Scottish keeper Gordon has struggled with injuries since his first season south of the border. After being demoted to third-choice at Sunderland, here’s a player ready and hungry to play who would be worth signing given his undoubted ability.

Danny Guthrie – Arguably one of the victims of Newcastle’s success last season the former Liverpool youngster is too talented to drift back into the Championship. A good honest box-to-box midfielder who probably wouldn’t be a bad signing for anyone expecting to fight for a mid-table place. Would do well at Wigan.

Michael Owen – Yes you’ve read that right. Owen despite enduring three injury-plagued years at Old Trafford could be a good signing.  Wages are not important to him at this stage in his career. His only focus is playing, scoring goals and enjoying what’s left of a great career. Would likely sign on in a pay-as-you-play deal.

Hugo Rodallegga – Despite coming of the back of his worst season at Wigan Athletic where he only scored twice, here is a striker who was linked with a deadline day move to Spurs only 18 months ago. If he can get his confidence back Rodallega can score 10-15 goals easily next season. Far too good to go back to the Americas.

Paul Scharner – Few players have cult status at both West Brom and Wigan. Given his performances in the division during his stay in England it’s easy to see why Scharner is highly-rated by both sets of fans. He can play well in midfield and in defence, works hard and pops up with important goals. What’s there not to like?

  1. The only name on that list we should sign is Diame who is strong and would add POWER to our midfield. Owen should sign for Stoke if he gets the chance.
