Manchester United of course travel to Villa Park tomorrow to face Aston Villa in the Premier League. So with that in mind it’s worth taking a look at these three players who we should be wary of going into the game:
Gabriel Agbonlahor
Last season Abgonlahor struggled at Villa and lost all of his confidence playing under the unpopular Gerard Houiller who left the club at the end of the season. Under McLeish he’s a changed man and looks to be back to his best, if not better.
After breaking through for Villa in the 06/07 season, he has impressed with his pace and finishing looking a natural finisher for many years to come. Good out wide too, he just needs a chance at International level to prove himself.
Sadly a hamstring injury prevented him from playing for England last month when he was set to feature for Fabio Capello, but he will know that if he can continue to score goals this season then he’ll get his chance to get a run in the team soon enough.
Darren Bent
Agbonlahor’s partner in crime up front will be Bent who stands only four goals away from bringing up a century of Premier League goals. Since signing from Sunderland in January the forward’s been a renowned success at Villa Park.
Now firmly in Fabio Capello’s England plans for Euro 2012, Bent has worked extremely hard over the last couple of years to prove that after slumping at Spurs that he wasn’t just a one-hit wonder at Charlton Athletic.
In truth his record at Spurs was good and he has improved since leaving the capital and is now a ruthless finisher who has the ability to hurt any side in the country. United’s defence will have to work hard to stop him tomorrow.
Richard Dunne
There are not too many defenders down the years who at times have had Wayne Rooney in their back-pocket; Dunne is one of a select few who have done so during his time at both his former side Manchester City and Villa.
Strong as an Ox, good in the tackle and a threat in the air, Dunne’s in many ways the perfect defender and many fans and pundits believe he is still good enough to play for City alongside Vincent Kompany in the heart of Roberto Mancini’s defence.
In many ways Dunne was a victim of City’s newfound success and with Houiller gone from Villa Park has looked back to his best. He has the ability to frustrate United this weekend, let’s hope he has a bad day as if he has a good day it may mean United dropping points.
