“Love you, capitano”, “We love you”: Some Man United fans bid farewell to 33-year-old after he confirms a summer exit

Antonio Valencia bids farewell to Manchester United: Twitter Reactions

Antonio Valencia has further confirmed that he is set to leave Manchester United in the summer after 10 long years at Old Trafford.

With his contract set to expire this summer, our club have decided not to offer an extension which will see the Ecuadorian leave Old Trafford on a free transfer at the end of the season.

Valencia, 33, arrived from Wigan in the summer of 2009 and has amassed 338 appearances in 10 years for the Red Devils but has fallen out of favour this season. The 33-year-old will head for pastures new this summer after winning six major titles at our club.

The Ecuador international was initially signed as a winger but has found a regular place in the side in recent years at right back. He has made only eight appearances for United in 2018-19 and last played in the 2-0 win over Newcastle United on January 2. In fact, the veteran full-back has made just one appearance under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and has been struggling with injury throughout this season.

Solskjaer confirmed a fortnight ago that Valencia will not be handed a new deal when his contract expires in June 2019.
