“What a worldie that was”, “Take a bow son”: Some Man United fans react in glee as this 17-year-old scores a stunning goal

Odion Ighalo has tipped Mason Greenwood for a bright future
Greenwood has scored 13 goals this season

Mason Greenwood sent Manchester United fans into meltdown with a sumptuous free-kick as the Red Devils’ Under-23 side ran out 5-0 winners over Newcastle in the Premier League 2 Division 2 at St. James’ Park.

Around 30 yards out from goal, the 17-year-old stepped up to take the free-kick. He superbly curled the ball over the wall and away from the goalkeeper’s reach, into the top corner of the net.

It’s the third free-kick scored this season by Mason Greenwood, who is so gifted with either foot that it’s difficult to make out which one is the strongest. He scored two free-kicks with his right foot in the 3-2 Premier League Cup quarter-final win over Liverpool.

With his brace at Newcastle, Greenwood took his tally to 24 goals in 26 appearances this season and our fans are very excited about the youngster. Under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, he has made cameo appearances and became the youngest player to represent our club in Champions League competition in the round of 16 second leg win over Paris Saint-Germain in March.
