Manchester United keeping close tabs on this 22-year-old Ligue 1 hitman ahead of summer transfer

Manchester United keeping close tabs on Lyon star Moussa Dembele

Manchester United are monitoring Lyon striker Moussa Dembele ahead of a possible summer swoop, reports the Daily Mirror.

The Frenchman, 22, joined Lyon from Celtic in the summer and has mightily impressed in his debut season in Ligue 1. He has scored 18 goals in 40 appearances for Lyon this season, catching the attention of Arsenal as well, claims the Daily Mirror.

Manchester United are set to be busy in the summer transfer window, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer keen to bolster his attacking options for next season. The Daily Mirror suggests the Red Devils have been impressed with Dembele’s work rate and prolific scoring record and want to sign the Frenchman, but will face competition from Arsenal, with Unai Emery a long term admirer.

Moussa Dembele could be a good buy for Manchester United

Romelu Lukaku’s future at Old Trafford remains uncertain after his agent admitted earlier this month the striker is open to leaving our club at the end of the season. Thus, Moussa Dembele could be viewed as a potential replacement for Lukaku, who has netted 12 goals in the Premier League this season.

A speedy and agile striker, Dembele can terrorise defences with his movement in the final third and aerial ability in the box. The Frenchman is strong on the ball and can be used as a focal point on the counter-attack as well as in a more possession-based style of play.

The 22-year-old has it in him to be a great player and his potential arrival at United would also ease the burden on Marcus Rashford, whose form has faded of late, managing just three goals in his last 10 appearances for our club.
