Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson believes Manchester United should think about bringing Arsene Wenger in the manager’s role, should they decide to replace Jose Mourinho.

The Express claims Zinedine Zidane and Mauricio Pochettino have been linked with the United job.

However, Merson was open to the idea of the former Arsenal manager taking over, and was quoted by the Express as saying:

“Seriously, that’s not the worst idea in the world.

“You’ve got to look at what Wenger did.

“You don’t have to go out and buy £70million to £80m players with some of the gems he’s got over time.

“It’s not a bad shout. Sometimes you just need a fresh start.”

Wenger left the job at the Emirates this season with Unai Emery taking over. The former Monaco manager certainly knew how to get results as he kept Arsenal in the top four for a number of years.

That streak broke in the last two years and Arsenal are competing in the Europa League too.

Mourinho has been under pressure for a while, and the manager saw his team pull off an incredible win over Newcastle on Saturday.
