Jose Mourinho still interested in signing £350,000-a-week Premier League powerhouse

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho could make a move for Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil in the winter transfer window, as per the Express.

The German attacker, who currently earns a whopping £350,000-a-week, scored in Arsenal’s 2-1 win over Newcastle United but his manager Unai Emery wanted him to do more for the side.

The new Arsenal manager was quoted by the Express saying:

“I want not only for him to assist we need him to go in the box and score like today.

“I will work with every player and continue our process to create the team as we want.”

The report also adds that Mourinho kept tabs on the former Real Madrid star last season, even before the German signed a new deal with the Gunners.

United didn’t sign any attackers in the summer but moving for Ozil would be an expensive proposition. The report claims that we will move for the player should he become available. However, Ozil has mentioned that he is happy at Arsenal and has a great relationship with Emery. (Express)

The 29-year-old played under Mourinho at Real Madrid, so the manager knows what he can bring to the side.

There have been questions about his work-rate but the 29-year-old is a world-class player, especially when it comes to the attack.

The German would not be a cheap signing for United, and hence, it makes more sense to move for a younger, more dynamic attacker.
