Manchester United interested in signing 107-goal Inter star along with defensive teammate

Milan Skriniar

Manchester United are interested in signing Inter Milan pair Mauro Icardi and Milan Skriniar, according to Gazzetta Dello Sport (h/t Sun).

However, the report adds that the Serie A club want to keep hold of their stars and the duo will be offered new contracts.

Icardi is one of the most lethal strikers in the world and has 107 goals from 183 games for Inter. Skriniar, for his part, has been stellar for the Serie A side and is rated as one of the best defenders in the league.

The report claims that United are targetting the pair after a less than convincing start to the Premier League campaign.

Mauro Icardi

We have picked up just two wins from our opening four games and lie six points behind a trio of clubs leading the Premier League table.

There is no doubt that someone like Icardi could turn our attack into one of the best in the world but it would be tough to shoehorn him into the team, given we have Romelu Lukaku doing his bit well.

United have struggled defensively and Skriniar would be a great option to have in the team, possibly better than English duo Phil Jones and Chris Smalling.

We didn’t do much in the transfer window and come January, the chequebooks must be open for Jose Mourinho to add quality to the side.

Skriniar and Icardi won’t come cheap but we should have the money to sign them.
