“He won 2-0” – Jose Mourinho dedicates win over Burnley to this man

Jose Mourinho dedicated Manchester United’s 2-0 win over Burnley to Ed Woodward and even had a bit of a go at the media.

A brace from Romelu Lukaku was enough to see off the Clarets, though we should have scored more as Paul Pogba missed a penalty.

The Express claimed that some United fans had hired a plane with a banner saying; “Ed Woodward: Specialist in failure”. This was in reference to Woodward failing to sign Mourinho’s defensive targets in the summer window.

However, Mourinho was happy with the result and was quoted by the Express as saying:

“I didn’t see planes but Ed Woodward won this afternoon. He won 2-0. I am delighted but I think some of you [the media] must be disappointed because it would be much better if we lose.”

There was a moment of madness from Marcus Rashford as he saw red for a slight headbutt to Phil Bardsley and Mourinho added this was a “naive” move from the youngster.

“In that action the only thing I can say is that probably the experience of Bardsley, with 20 years of football, against the impulse and naivety of a guy that has been in top football for about three years but is still a young kid.”

The manager also believed that both players could have received yellows for the incident but didn’t make much of it.

Mourinho certainly came out on top at a difficult ground and the international break comes at the wrong time for United.

We could have used this win to kick-start our season after two defeats in our previous games. Hopefully, the wind isn’t taken out of our sails when the players return after a couple of weeks as Mourinho must plan a title charge.
