Anthony Martial has performed a U-turn over his Manchester United future and is now ready to fight for his place under Jose Mourinho, reports the Sun.

Martial’s agent Philippe Lamboley insisted earlier that the Frenchman wants to leave Old Trafford after being frozen out by Mourinho.

The 22-year-old’s relationship with Mourinho soured further during United’s pre-season tour after he left the camp for the birth of his second child. The United manager was upset at how long it took for Martial to return. The forward was fined two weeks’ wages.

But as per the Sun, Martial is relishing the chance to prove his worth to Mourinho after the Red Devils refused to sell him this summer. The France international, who was handed a start against Brighton last weekend due to Alexis Sanchez’s injury, will not force a move away from our club before next week’s European transfer deadline, the report adds.

Although Martial failed to make an impact in the shock 3-2 defeat at Brighton, it is excellent news for us as he wants to fight for his place even with Sanchez returning from injury and Jesse Lingard and Marcus Rashford pushing for starting berths.

Martial staying put at Old Trafford this season will come as a big boost for Mourinho, who started the 22-year-old in just two of the final 10 league games last season. He was also snubbed by France manager Didier Deschamps for World Cup.

But it appears as if Martial is encouraged by the club’s reluctance to sell him this summer, giving him the sense of security that he is a wanted man at Old Trafford.
