Barcelona have given up on signing Paul Pogba this season, according to the Express (h/t Mirror). The report claims that the Catalan giants will have to play the waiting game to get their man, similar to how they got Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool.

The report adds that Manchester United aren’t considering selling the World Cup winner this season and Barcelona would have to wait until next season to get the former Juventus star.

Pogba has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford (h/t Manchester Evening News) in the summer but Jose Mourinho was quoted by the Mirror as claiming he is extremely happy with the French midfielder.

“The truth is we are together for two years and a couple of weeks and I’ve never been so happy with [Pogba] as I am now.

“I cannot demand more from him, I cannot ask more from him, he came here on a Monday, trained three days, I asked for his support for his contribution in an important match for us when the team had difficulties.”

The 25-year-old captained our side in the 2-1 win over Leicester City on the opening game of the Premier League season. The Frenchman even scored in the win and was one of the most impressive players in France’s World Cup run.

It should be great news for United that we would be able to keep Pogba this season. Mourinho and the staff should work to ensure he stays at Old Trafford for a few more years.
