Manchester United have accepted a bid for Dutch defender Daley Blind, with Ajax offering £14m for their former player, according to the Express.
The report claims that the fee for the 28-year-old could rise up to £18.5m and this move could help Barcelona clinch a deal for Frenkie de Jong from the Dutch giants according to Sport (h/t Express).
Blind had fallen out of favour under Jose Mourinho and is expected to move to Holland before the start of next season. This move would soften the stand of Ajax as they could sell their midfielder De Jong to Barcelona.
While Barca would have to pay a bunch for De Jong, losing Blind to Ajax is not the best move for us. But it does provide the Dutch defender with a chance to return to his former club.
Blind could be a quality squad player for us next season and he would do a decent job as a left-back. But it seems Mourinho does not want to keep the former Ajax man at the club.
In all probability, we have to get more for Blind as he still is quality and could do a decent job in any of the big leagues in Europe. However, this seems to be a move to keep the player happy as he would return to his native land and continue playing for his former club.
