Italian champions Juventus have entered the race to sign Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo and have tabled a bid of £88million, according to the Telegraph. The report claims that United have to submit a counter offer to have any chance of landing the Portuguese legend.

The report claims that the former Manchester United player could be on the move after rumours spread of him not seeing eye-to-eye with Madrid president Florentino Perez.

Juventus believe they are in a great position to sign the Portugal star and can offer him and his agent the right deal to make the move.

It is yet to be seen if United are willing to bid as high as Juventus for their former star and the wages that Ronaldo would want is another factor that has to be looked into.

The report claims that the 33-year-old could earn at least £500,000-a-week and also brought out that Ronaldo had a difficult time during the final season with Jose Mourinho at Madrid.

It is being said that Ronaldo playing in a fourth country could swing the balance in favour of Juventus. The Italian champions aren’t known for spending big on players, especially considering their recent transfers so this bid coming in from them is a bit of a shock.

Looking at the financials provided, United would have to pay a huge amount in terms of wages and the fee to bring Ronaldo would be mind-boggling too.

While the Portuguese star can still play at the highest level for a good three years or more, this might be too much for our finances, unless we sell a few players off and make space for one of the best ever.
