Jose Mourinho is convinced he needs another striker and is keen to sign Serie A star

Mario Mandzukic

Jose Mourinho is looking for additional forward options next season after Marcus Rashford failed to impress during England’s 1-0 loss at the hands of Belgium, according to the Manchester Evening News.

The report claims that even though the 20-year-old is admired by the Manchester United manager, his miss against Thibaut Courtois seems to have convinced him to find a backup for Romelu Lukaku.

The Belgian has been scoring goals for fun in the World Cup and Mourinho is reportedly plotting to bring in Mario Mandzukic from Juventus.

Mourinho must sign someone with a greater physical presence up top. United are in dire need of a striker who can hold the ball up and Mandzukic would certainly be a decent option for that.

The 32-year-old is having a great World Cup campaign with Croatia so far and he even scored the equalizer as they eventually beat Denmark on penalties.

Mandzukic might not be the youngest player out there but the Croatian can certainly do a decent job.

He didn’t have the most prolific season for the Old Lady last season as he notched up only five goals in the Serie A. However, the Croatian was often utilized out wide rather than played down the middle by the Italian giants.

If we submit a decent offer, we could tempt Juve to sell Mandzukic but it remains to be seen if the player is willing to forego the prospect of regular game time to move to Old Trafford.
