Manchester United star David de Gea has agreed to a new deal with the club, reports the Manchester Evening News. De Gea, 27, has established himself as arguably the best goalkeeper of the world.
The shot-stopper has been United’s best player in the last few years. He played 37 games in the league this past season, conceding only 28 goals, keeping 18 clean sheets that earned him the Golden Glove award ahead of Manchester City’s Ederson.
The new deal will keep the Spaniard at Old Trafford until the summer of 2023. Real Madrid had hoped to lure the former Atletico shot-stopper back to the Spanish capital this season after a failed transfer in 2015, reports the Manchester Evening News.
The 27-year-old almost signed for the Spanish giants three summers ago but the move collapsed in the last minute. However, De Gea is set to end speculation surrounding a move to Real Madrid by committing his future at Old Trafford.
Now that De Gea has agreed to a new deal, Jose Mourinho can finally breathe a huge sigh of relief and concentrate on getting other transfer deals done. Our club has already signed Diogo Dalot from FC Porto and agreed to a deal with Shakhtar Donetsk for Fred. But the Red Devils need a couple of fresh players more to challenge Manchester City for the title next season.
