Manchester United made it two signings in two days as the club confirmed Diogo Dalot’s arrival. The Porto defender had been linked with a move to Old Trafford since the end of last season and now joins Fred in the squad.
The 19-year-old Portugal U21 international has not played too many games for his club but Jose Mourinho believes the player has a bright future as he was quoted by the club’s site.
“He has all the attributes that a full-back needs: physicality, tactical intelligence and technical quality, combined with a Porto Academy mentality which prepares players for the maturity they need at the professional level.
“In his age group, he is the best full-back in Europe and we all believe he has a bright future ahead of him at Manchester United.”
Dalot also stated that a move to the “biggest club” in the world was something that he could not turn down.
As expected, a number of fans took to Twitter and shared their views on the signing and here are some of the best.

Diogo Dalot looks like Matteo Darmian without the shit sideburns. Hopefully, unlike Darmian, he can defend and cross the ball.

Mourinho NEVER buys unproven teenagers for the first team. The fact he’s identified Dalot as our long term RB says a lot. The player has obviously been scouted extensively and ticks all the boxes. I’m excited to see him play.

Diogo Dalot can turn out to be either positive or negative, no middle ground is given to Manchester United players.
However, I have full faith in him and it shall be an adventure to watch this young fullback grow.
