According to a report by The Mirror, Manchester United have received a major blow in the pursuit of Real Madrid superstar Gareth Bale, who could cost over £200m.

Zinedine Zidane shocked the footballing community with his decision to quit hardly days after leading Real to their third successive Champions League victory. Los Blancos will now have to scramble to find a new manager but it seems like they have a solid chance of retaining Bale.

The Welshman failed to feature much for Real last season and was suffering from an injury as well. However, he burst on to the scene in the UCL final against Liverpool at Kiev and smashed 2 goals to secure a victory for the Spanish giants. Surely, no club would want to get rid of a player like that?

However, in an explosive interview after the match, Bale had revealed that he would talk to his agent about the situation since he felt like he did not receive adequate game time at Real over the course of the season.

That somehow hinted at a possible rift between him and the manager but with Zidane out of the picture, The Mirror claims it is quite likely for Bale to stay back at Santiago Bernabeu.

It does come as bad news for us since it might be tough to lure bale out of Real Madrid now. As far as the attacking department is concerned, our performances have been lacklustre for a long time and a player like Bale would have gone a long way in helping us improve. Nevertheless, if that door has closed, it is important for Jose Mourinho to keep looking for options in the market.
