Jamie Redknapp is notorious for saying a lot of things and in his recent column for Daily Mail, the Sky Sports pundit claimed that Jose Mourinho must sign Gareth Bale to avoid being labelled as a boring club.

Since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement, United have been plagued with a lot of troubles but Mourinho has steadied the sails to a certain extent. He brought in some top-class players in the form of Paul Pogba, Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez, and has also managed to take United into the Champions League.

We also stand a good chance to win the FA Cup this season but it is hard to argue with the fact that United have, in fact, been playing dull football lately.

Throughout the recently concluded season, United were accused of playing safe yet defensive football, as a result of which we lost against all three newly-promoted sides.

Granted, we did beat the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City but our game, in general, needs improvement.

Redknapp believes that Bale could be the solution to our attacking woes. We have been linked with a move for Bale in recent times.

“They finished second and could win the FA Cup but let’s face it… this is one of the most boring United teams. They signed off the league season with a 1-0 win over Watford that was shown last on Match of the Day.

“If Jose Mourinho wants to change that, he should go and buy Gareth Bale. He has won it all at Real Madrid and won’t be fazed by the Premier League,” wrote Redknapp in his column for the Daily Mail.

The Real Madrid star has not enjoyed the best of seasons due to his slew of never-ending injuries and lack of form. He did spark a late resurgence but based on what we have seen so far, the deal does not look encouraging enough.

It remains to be seen how things progress but one must bear in mind that Bale has notched up some sensational displays in the Premier League before and he might be able to repeat the same at Old Trafford.
