Jose Mourinho is reportedly in talks with three Barcelona players about the possibility of joining us at the end of the season.

According to Spanish website Don Balon, the Reds boss is said to be looking to sign Andre Gomes, Samuel Umtiti and Marc-Andre Ter Stegen. Umtiti is viewed as the most sought-after option as he has a £53 million release clause in his contract.

David de Gea’s future is currently the subject of speculation. The Spaniard is being linked with a move to Real Madrid who are likely to look for a replacement for current first-choice Keylor Navas at the end of the season.

If De Gea moves, then it appears that ter Stegen is one of the options that we will consider. The German will not be cheap and will cost around £89 million.

Over the years, De Gea has become a leader within our team and is also one of the best keepers in the world.

Though he loves our club, the prospect of playing in his homeland for one of the biggest teams in Spain as well as the world will surely be appealing to De Gea, who is also Spain’s number one goalkeeper. In addition to this, moving back to Spain will also allow him to be closer to his family and friends.

Andre Gomes

De Gea is aware of the interest which he is attracting from the Spanish capital and is reportedly using it in order to try and persuade Mourinho to make big-name signings, one of whom is Umtiti.

We could certainly do with solid options in midfield given that Michael Carrick is set to retire at the end of the season, while the futures of Paul Pogba and Marouane Fellaini are up in the air.

It, however, is a surprise that we are linked with Gomes given that he has not been in the best of form, though he does boast immense talent.
