£50m Rated Bundesliga Superstar Picks Manchester United Over Liverpool

Chelsea flop interested in Premier League return if Manchester United want him
Chelsea flop interested in Premier League return if Manchester United want him

RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner has said that he dreams of playing in the Premier League, with Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United topping his list ahead of Liverpool.

The 22-year-old Germany international is unarguably one of Europe’s most sought-after talents and has time and again linked with a move to the Premier League, with the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United credited with an interest. Werner, who moved to Leipzig in 2016 after his former club Stuttgart were relegated from Bundesliga, has scored 37 goals in 65 appearances thus far and was club’s top scorer last season when Leipzig secured the second spot in Bundesliga.

Having impressed one and all with his impressive performances, the 22-year-old is expected to lead the charge of German attack when they make their appearance in Russia in the FIFA World Cup. Up until now, Werner has 10 international caps to his name and has bagged seven goals. His exploits have earned him a reported interest from Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and the La Liga giants Barcelona and Real Madrid, and as Four Four Two quotes, he is valued at £50 million.

Speaking to the aforementioned magazine, Werner has revealed that he used to watch Manchester United and Liverpool as a kid and a move to the Premier League remains one of his dreams. However, he did mention that he is ‘very comfortable’ at Leipzig.

“Yes, playing in the Premier League is a dream for me. I would like to play for two or three clubs, and Manchester United are one of those clubs. But probably not in the next few years – later, when my English is a little bit better! I’m very comfortable at RB Leipzig, though,” Werner told Four Four Two.

“Manchester United and Liverpool were the teams I watched quite a lot in England. They were the two that I’m a little bit a fan of, because they have so much history. When Alex Ferguson was the coach, United won everything and were outstanding.”

The 22-year-old was informed about the rich rivalry of Manchester United and Liverpool, and he burst out in laughter. Adding to it, he admitted that if he is to choose between the two clubs, he would go for Manchester United rather than Liverpool.

“In Liverpool, it’s also their stadium and the atmosphere,” he says. “But when I have to decide, I’m more Manchester United than Liverpool.

“I’m now at a point where at some stage in the future I’d like to play in a team that wins titles.”

Werner agreed to a four-year contract with Leipzig when he switched Stuttgart for The Bulls, and his current contract runs until 2020.
