Manchester United and Manchester City set to battle it out for 28-year-old Serie A midfield destroyer

Manchester United and Manchester City are going to battle it out for one of the most impressive performers from Serie A, Jorginho. The 28-year-old has been a star for table-topping Napoli this season and it seems City have caught a whiff of our good work in tracking the midfielder down.

The Manchester Evening News carries a report from Italian channel Premium Sport, which claims that Pep Guardiola was incredibly impressed by the Italian midfielder when City played against the Serie A side in the Champions League.

The City manager is now looking for a long-term replacement for both Yaya Toure and even Fernandinho and believes that he has found the right candidate in Jorginho. The 28-year-old Napoli star has played 25 times for the side this season and has even scored 3 goals despite being a defensive midfielder.

Is Jorginho The Man For Our Midfield Woes?

United have had their own problems when it comes to the midfield, with the likes of Marouane Fellaini and even Nemanja Matic not always clicking in the defensive third.

With Michael Carrick coming close to the end of his career at Old Trafford, we have to find someone who can do the job in the middle of the park and provide some sort of base for Paul Pogba to shine.

We haven’t really been able to take our gameplay up a notch under Jose Mourinho this season and maybe, to bring the balance to the side, we have to sign Jorginho. The 28-year-old would not come on the cheap and that’s a certainty. But we do have the financial power to sign any player we want.

We have kept a keen eye on the Italian for quite a while and it would be really unfortunate if City came into the party now. Mourinho normally gets the players he wants and if the Portuguese really wants Jorginho, then there will be no stopping him or Manchester United.
