Fans have reacted to the injury crisis that we face for the Champions League encounter against Sevilla as well as for the Premier League match against Chelsea just four days later. Many of our first-team regulars were absent from the previous FA Cup tie against Huddersfield Town and Jose Mourinho has since revealed that David De Gea was the only player who he was rested for the game.

Paul Pogba was also absent as he was ill. Our squad was so depleted for the game against the Terriers, that Mou was forced to throw in youngsters Ethan Hamilton and Angel Gomes on the substitutes bench in order to make up the numbers.

“I didn’t rest one single player, so we had every player available here,” the United boss said after winning at the John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday.

“I brought two kids (Ethan Hamilton and Angel Gomes) that played 90 minutes yesterday (for the under-23s) because I don’t have another player.

“Can we recover some of them for Wednesday? I believe so. (Marcus) Rashford, (Ander) Herrera, (Antonio) Valencia, I think they have a chance. Paul (Pogba), I don’t know.

Speaking in his pre-match conference for the game against Sevilla, Mourinho said (as quoted by Mirror):

“We opened the training session today and I open in a period where we normally don’t open. We normally do it in the warming up and the first simple drills of the training session. This time, we did it for quite a long time and in the last period so we could see players in a competitive situation.

“When a player is in that competitive situation, it’s because the players are normally ready and without problems, so you could see in that training some people that didn’t play against Huddersfield with problems – like Pogba, Valencia, Rashford and Herrera.”

The fans reacted to Jose’s comments and here’s what they said:
