Manchester United could sign £40m Brazilian teen sensation as player drops big hint

Manchester United target Malcom is learning English in his spare time – fuelling rumours that he could be set for a big-money move to Old Trafford. The Red Devils have been heavily linked with a move for Bordeaux winger Malcom and the Brazilian seems to be preparing for life in England.

The 20-year-old has established himself as one of Europe’s hottest prospects at Bordeaux since joining the club from Corinthians two years ago. The Brazilian winger has particularly caught everyone’s eyes this season – scoring 7 goals and creating 4 more – despite the club languishing at 15th place in Ligue 1.

United appeared to be the front-runners to sign Malcom a few weeks ago, with Jose Mourinho supposedly keen to add another winger to his squad.

Reports have claimed that Jose Mourinho’s side have already held talks with Bordeaux regarding a £40million deal for the 20-year-old winger. But Arsenal are also interested in the Brazilian and have reportedly entered the negotiations.

However, Malcom’s brilliant displays this season seem to have caught the eyes of Mourinho, who believes that the No.7 could prove to be the ‘missing piece’ in United’s attack despite his tender age.

The Bordeaux star has sent media outlets into a frenzy, after uploading a picture of himself learning English (h/t Manchester Evening News). He captioned the post “Allez”, while translating it himself to “Come on”.

Earlier this week, Bordeaux boss Jocelyn Gourvennec all-but admitted defeat in his bid to keep the young Brazilian at the club.

Gourvennec said: “I build for the next stage with Malcom. The football is football, I do not imagine so far that he can leave but you never know. I’m not the ultimate decision maker for the club and the market remains the market.”

Last month, Bordeaux insisted that Malcom would not be allowed to leave the club in the January transfer window.

“He will not leave this winter,” the Ligue 1 club’s president Stephane Martin told L’Equipe, as reported by Metro.

“What if we go an immediate loan deal back? I don’t see that being in the interests of the club to do that. We have not spoken about it and it is not something we are working on.”

This could be a gimmick from Malcom’s team to try and fuel the speculation of a move in order to initiate a bidding war between interested parties.
