Manchester United are set to launch a move for Real Madrid star Gareth Bale this month, according to several reports. The Daily Express reports the Welshman could make a sensational return to England, with Jose Mourinho being a long-term admirer. However, the Special One earlier claimed that a move would be ‘mission impossible’.

The Spanish giants are ready to offload the 28-year-old now after growing tired of the amount of time that he has spent on the treatment table in the last two seasons. The Red Devils are long-time suitors for Bale, who opted to move to Madrid instead of Old Trafford when he left Tottenham in September 2013.

Since arriving at the Bernabeu, Bale has helped his side win one league title and three Champions Leagues. But having endured an injury-hit time at the Spanish capital, manager Zinedine Zidane is ready to let the Welsh winger leave Real in January, only if an attractive offer comes in for him.

Mourinho, who is a big fan of Bale, is desperate to wrap up a deal this month as he looks to inject some energy and freshness into his squad. The United manager is seeking reinforcements for his squad to compete in the Champions League and the FA Cup, with Premier League title being a distant dream due to Manchester City’s excellent form this season.

The report adds that Bale’s former club Tottenham will have 72 hours to match Manchester United’s offer if we make one and discuss personal terms. Bale has managed just six league appearances for Los Blancos this campaign but has registered two goals and one assist.

The Welsh international is not happy at Real Madrid as he is not able to play regularly due to his injuries. There are reports that Bale is frustrated with the medical team at Bernabeu as they are not able to keep him fit for long. Los Blancos are also said to be frustrated looking at his situation and are still hoping to recoup the money they paid.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has also changed his tune on Bale in recent months, suggesting he’s willing to sell the Welshman now having previously seen him as “untouchable”.

It looks like we have a great chance to sign Gareth Bale this month. Do you think Manchester United must sign Bale?
