Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini has no intentions of signing a new contract and will leave the Theatre of Dreams once his contract expires at the end of the season.

This is according to Express Sports, who further claim that the Belgium midfielder has already rejected one contract offer from the club despite the fact that Mourinho rates him highly. The same source has also added that his representatives have already started searching for a new club and should a potential suitor be found, it will be of no significance as to whether he’d leave in January or in the summer.

A source close to the midfielder has all but confirmed that he is willing to leave Manchester United and has already been approached by Chinese clubs. Manchester United, however, haven’t given any thoughts of letting him go in January but they will be helpless by next summer as the player will be free to listen to offers from everywhere.

“Fellaini will not extend his contract,” the source told Express Sport.

“He does not prefer to leave in January or in the summer but Manchester United will have the final say over what happens next month.

“He has an offer from China and could leave for more money.”

Despite not being a crowd favourite at the Old Trafford, Fellaini was rated by United’s former manager Louis van Gaal and his status has continued under the tenure of Jose Mourinho. Deputising Paul Pogba ahead of Ander Herrera, Fellaini has earned a spot for himself and the fact that he has already notched up 4 goals so far is a perfect specimen of it.

Fellaini’s exit rumours haven’t grown over the recent weeks as the midfielder was firmly linked with a move to Galatasaray over the summer. The Turkish giants were so confident of signing him that sporting director Cenk Ergun went on to claim that the Belgian would leave United in summer.

“Fellaini will leave Manchester United and he is now in our radar,” Ergun was quoted as saying. “There will be surprises, we are in talks with Fellaini.

“We need a player like Fellaini who can move around in midfield,” he added.

Mourinho, however, responded firmly to the speculations by saying it is easier for Galatasaray to sign him, rather than the midfielder.

Whatever it is, Fellaini goes out of contract in the summer and he will be free to talk to other foreign clubs from January. Meanwhile, Fellaini is currently out injured with a knee injury and has not played since a 1-0 win over Brighton and Hove Albion last month. He was thought to be in contention to face Manchester City earlier this month, but Mourinho decided to omit him for some reasons.

Furthermore, when quipped about his return against Leicester on Friday, Mourinho simply quoted “not available”. It now remains to be seen when the Belgian finally makes his appearance.
