Jose Mourinho has identified Real Madrid’s midfield maestro Toni Kross as his dream signing for the next summer transfer window, an exclusive report from Calciomercato has confirmed.

Mourinho is reportedly looking to bolster his midfield unit and in doing so, he believes Toni Kroos will be a dream addition to his squad. The report further claims that Kroos, who earns £325,000-per-week at Real Madrid was constantly linked with Machester United during David Moyes’ reign, but the World Cup winner eventually decided to join Real Madrid instead.

Furthermore, as per the Spanish news outlet Diario Gol (h/t Daily Star), Mourinho has already made contact with the midfielder but face a gruelling task of convincing Madrid president Florentino Perez to sell the player. United share a not-so-good relationship with Real when it comes to transfers; remember the entire David de Gea transfer saga.

United were constantly linked with Alvaro Morata over the summer and saw at least three bids get rejected for the Spaniard. United eventually turned their attention to Romelu Lukaku and Real sold Morata to Chelsea.

In terms of Kroos, it will be harder for United given that the German is already an established star in the first team. Agreed, there is constant competition for the starting berth, but the creative outlay Kroos provides is next to unmatchable.

Hence, it is safe to say United will have to table such an offer that could turn Perez’s head. Furthermore, as far as Perez is concerned, it is hard to say whether he would sanction the sale, given that Kroos is as important as Modric is to them.

We’ve signed Nemanja Matic and we already have the likes of Paul Pogba, Ander Herrera and Marouane Fellaini in our ranks. Hence, it is quite fair to assume that this whole ‘Kroos to United’ thing a baseless rumour.

Meanwhile, Calciomercato has also added that United are still keeping tabs on AS Monaco’s Fabinho which can certainly be a reality given that both Fabinho and AS Monaco’s officials have conceded that United approached them during the summer window. Surely, exciting times lie ahead!
