Manchester United Handed Major Boost In Pursuit Of World-class La Liga Superstar

Gareth Bale

With club football taking a break for international matches, the rumour mills are abuzz linking players with top clubs. In the case of Manchester United, the players recently in the news are Gareth Bale, Mesut Ozil, Jordi Alba and Jack Harrison.

Spanish media outlet Don Balon (h/t Sportskeeda) reports that Bale has picked up another injury and that could affect his career at Real Madrid. Club president Florentino Perez is not pleased with the Welshman’s fitness who has missed large chunks of the last couple of seasons due to various injuries. It is being reported that Perez has now decided to sell Bale next summer.

That could be good news for the Red Devils who have been long-term admirers of the winger. Hopefully, we keep David de Gea out of this equation as Perez keeps bringing the Spanish goalkeeper into every discussion with United.

Another player making a lot of noise is Arsenal’s mercurial German playmaker, Ozil. According to The Sun (h/t Sportskeeda), the midfielder has already rejected fresh approaches from the Gunners and it is being reported that he would be open to a move to Old Trafford. Considering his equation with Jose Mourinho during his time at Real Madrid, media believes that Ozil could enter into negotiations with Manchester United in January.

Mesut Ozil would be a great buy for Manchester United.

Mesut Ozil

I personally am not a huge fan of Ozil; let’s see where this link goes!

More news from Spain as Diario Gol (h/t Sportskeeda) indicates that Lionel Messi stopped his close friend Jordi Alba from joining Manchester United earlier this season. The Spanish left-back was pursued by Mourinho, who isn’t keen on Luke Shaw and is eyeing a permanent replacement. However, the Argentine superstar made sure that Alba stayed back at Camp Nou.

Reports indicate that even if United make fresh approaches, Alba could decide to stay at Barcelona and play with Messi. So, this is one link that we may have heard the last of!

The Sun (h/t Sportskeeda) reports that the Red Devils are chasing the signature of their former youth star Harrison as the England Under-21 international continues to impress for New York City FC. However, bitter neighbors Manchester City are also interested and Pep Guardiola could be leading the race as New York City has close ties with City.

Let’s hope that at least a couple of deals go through and we benefit from it!
