Manchester United are all set to revive their interest in Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann as Atletico Madrid have Diego Costa from Chelsea for £58m.

The Metro claims that the Red Devils are watching the proceedings at Atletico closely and that United are ready to revive their interest in sealing a £88million move for the French striker. Manchester United are long-time admirers of the forward and were in the driving seat to land him in the summer window. But, they had to shelve their ideas after Atletico were hit with a transfer ban.

The Spanish giants were prohibited from signing players, which meant that they wouldn’t have been able to sign a replacement had the 26-year-old departed. Griezmann felt that he shouldn’t leave under such circumstances and hence decided to stay put. He even went on to sign a new contract.

However, it is understood that the player is still keen on a move to the Premier League with the Red Devils. Reports state that the Old Trafford giants are now likely to make a fresh bid next summer.

According to ESPN, the only spike in United’s interest was the impending arrival of Costa at Atletico. The Chelsea outcast who has ended his oblivion by finalising a move to Diego Simeone’s side is viewed as a ready-made replacement for Griezmann. The Spanish international is all set to link with Atletico from January 1 when the transfer ban gets lifted.

Griezmann is widely regarded as one of the top strikers in world football. Even though he competes with Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi in the same league, the Frenchman has managed to carve a niche for himself.

Griezmann would be a worthy candidate to sport the vacant No. 7 jersey in our team and his arrival is sure to set the Premier League on fire. With the amount of firepower in our team already, Griezmann would only make us unstoppable. It finally looks like we are once again moving back to being Europe’s elites.
