Manchester United Beat Man City To The Signing Of Highly Rated 15-Year Old English Prospect

Manchester United have agreed on a deal to sign Coventry City teenager Charlie McCann. The highly-rated 15-year-old midfielder will join the Academy team headed by Nicky Butt at Old Trafford, according to The Daily Mail.

This is a great coup for the Red Devils as it has been reported that the youngster had turned down a move to bitter city rivals Manchester City to link up with Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United.

The youngster was recently called up to England Under 16s this summer and is considered one of the brightest talents in his age group. He is a childhood Manchester United fan and that is supposed to be one of the reasons for his decision to join the Red Devils.

McCann was born in Coventry and was snapped by the local club at the age of seven. He made his England debut for the Under 16s in a 2-0 win over Uruguay before playing as a substitute in the 2-0 loss to Scotland.

It is also reported that the Sky Blues have received an undisclosed fee for the starlet and the club did not want to stand in his way forwars. Coventry academy chairman Richard Stevens told Coventry’s website:

“When a big football club come knocking, and it is the club that Charlie supports, you must let him go and have that experience.”

The kid is one of the brightest stars coming out of Coventry’s academy and hence they were reluctant to let him leave. After his parents told the East Midlands club that he would leave only for Old Trafford, it was only a matter of time before McCann made the move.

This has been a very productive summer for the United academy as we finalised some important additions. Spanish prodigy Arnau Puigmal was captured from Espanyol after beating top European clubs for his signature.

Then, other upcoming youngsters like Aliou Badara Traore and Ethan Galbraith have also been added to the roster to beef up the academy.

Manchester United has a rich tradition of developing youngsters and giving finished products to clubs. McCann could be the next big thing to come out of our academy.

Here’s wishing the young Charlie McCann a great future at Manchester United!
