Manchester United are looking to offer new terms to Jose Mourinho and a large section of the fans look excited with this news. According to the Telegraph, United are keen on offering Mourinho a new contract at the club.

The Portuguese tactician had a mixed start to his Old Trafford career, winning three titles in his first year but missing out on a top-four finish in the Premier League. Of those three titles, the Community Shield and the League Cup may not be significant for a majority of fans.

However, leading United to Europa League win was all the more important because it guaranteed Champions League qualification for this year. Buoyed by that and the success in transfer market – where we finished our business very early, Mourinho has overseen a positive start to the 2017-18 campaign.

Three wins out of three games before the 2-2 draw with Stoke put the Red Devils on top of the standings. More than the wins, the manner in which United brought these up has risen hopes among the Red Devils’ faithful.

No wonder then that the fans are excited to see the news of Mourinho’s extension. The ‘Special One’ was signed on a three-year deal at the club and United want the extension talks to begin before he enters the final 12 months of his contract.

Incidentally, no manager has lasted more than two years at Old Trafford since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson. There is a catch here though as Mourinho rarely stays at a club beyond three years and it remains to be seen if that would be the case at Old Trafford too.

For now, though, the fans are lapping up the news happily and have expressed their satisfaction on the social media.
