Mourinho Is Keen To Sign Tottenham Star: Prepared To Offer £70,000-a-week Man United Ace In Exchange

There is something about Luke Shaw that Jose Mourinho doesn’t like. After criticising him in public and chastising him for his performances, it seems the Manchester United manager is in no mood to give another chance to the left-back.

The Daily Star reports that Mourinho is willing to look at the option of offering Shaw to Tottenham Hotspur in the January transfer window in order to entice Danny Rose. However, Shaw is keen to prove his worth to the United hierarchy and wants to win back his first team place before the winter transfer window opens.

The left-back arrived at Old Trafford in the summer of 2014 from Southampton and it was hoped that we had landed a player who can command the left-back position for United and England for the next decade.

But, a combination of injuries and poor form meant that Shaw struggled to establish himself as the first option. His fitness continues to be a concern although he has been unlucky a couple of times, by picking up freak injuries.

Rose, on the other hand, is an established star in Mauricio Pochettino’s team and even with the national side. The 27-year-old has been a long-term target of Mourinho and recently voiced his frustrations about the conditions at Tottenham.

Luke Shaw of Manchester United

There is no doubt that Rose is angling for a move that would offer him more money and a better prospect of challenging for trophies. There is no dearth of interest in him, with Chelsea too willing to make a move for his signature.

Shaw should be feeling the heat of Mourinho’s interest in Rose as he enters the final year of his contract. The club wouldn’t want to lose him on the cheap, which means United should either cash in on him in the winter window or offer an extension.

I personally feel that Shaw hasn’t got a chance to impress in a complete season – whatever may be the reason. He should be given a good run of games before being offloaded. The age also stands in favour of Shaw and I hope he gets more games before January.

Looks like we are in for an interesting time! Watch this space.
