Manchester United In Surprise Talks To Sign Manchester City Starlet Before Transfer Deadline

Jadon Sancho

Manchester United are ready to take advantage of the situation around Manchester City youngster Jadon Sancho and tempt him to Old Trafford. The starlet was reported to have been in talks with Tottenham Hotspur but with the talks having collapsed, United have received a boost.

The 17-year-old has been recognised as one of the best players of his age not just at City but across the country. He has not trained at the City Football Academy for over a month after being left out of the club’s pre-season tour to America.

Pep Guardiola surprisingly omitted the player in his tour squad and that seemed to have irked the player who stayed away from the club. Sancho is on a scholarship contract with City having signed from Watford two years ago.

Sancho was offered professional terms worth £30,000-a-week but the youngster has rejected the deal as he was not sure of breaking into Guardiola’s first-team. The club chiefs are holding talks with the player’s representatives but it is reported that Sancho wants to move out and look at his options outside Man City before the transfer window closes today.

Premier League Clubs Arsenal and Tottenham are also interested although United feel that staying in the North-West could be attractive for Sancho. Should he move to any rival, City would receive a sizeable compensation. The player is also reportedly weighing a one-year move overseas, a case in which the compensation would be as little as £190,000. Red Bull Leipzig are reported to be leading this pack with Borussia Dortmund also in the mix.

United, however, feel that they have the edge because of the location and due to the fact that he is friends with United youngster Angel Gomes. Sancho has been named the best player at the Under-17 European Championship in Croatia and is looking for greater chances of moving into first-team.

If he does move, it would be a huge boost to United’s recruitment at the academy level which is being dominated by City for quite some time now.

Do you think Jadon Sancho will be a good addition to our academy and will be a great future prospect?
