On the field or off the field, it is tough to keep Zlatan Ibrahimovic out of action. The Swedish superstar is currently recuperating from the knee injury he suffered in last year Europa League competition after being released by United at the end of last season.

However, latest reports indicate that the 35-year-old is close to signing back with the Red Devils and sponsors Adidas have dropped a huge hint on his return (Express). Manchester United’s home jersey is available on Adidas’ official website and the jersey had an option of Zlatan Ibrahimovic customisation for the users.

The 35-year-old striker endured a great debut season with United last year, racking up 28 goals and providing 10 assists in 46 appearances across all competitions, lifting the Europa League and the League Cup.

A serious knee injury ruled him out until December, although he is recovering at a faster pace and could make a swift return. As such, clubs are back in the hunt for his signature.

It is United who are reported to be in the driving seat for his signature offering him a short-term contract including a coaching role once he decides to retire, as reported by The Independent. Looks like Adidas have taken the liberty of all but confirming this theory when they made the new United jersey available on their portal with Ibrahimovic personalisation option.

The Swede was given the number 10 shirt on the portal, the number that was recently vacated by Wayne Rooney who returned to his boyhood club, Everton. The giant Swedish talisman loves proving naysayers wrong and could make a quicker than anticipated return to action.

Signing him will be a very smart move by the Red Devils as Jose Mourinho sees him as a perfect mentor for his young strikers. Both Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford will benefit a lot by working with the Swede for the rest of this season.

In addition, with the mandate of competing on all four fronts weighing on his neck, Mourinho will be pleased to welcome the striker back.

What do you think? Should Zlatan Ibrahimovic stay for one more season at Old Trafford?
