Manchester United continued their ruthless streak during preseason as they dispatched rivals Manchester City 2-0 thanks to goals from Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford in a packed NRG Stadium in Houston.
All eyes were on Lukaku as he scored his second goal in as many games for us and seems a firm fixture in our team. We are yet to lose in our preseason games this season, something that will please Jose Mourinho and the fans, and next face a tougher task in Real Madrid on 23 July.
The goals from Lukaku and Rashford were only a couple of minutes apart and set the tone for the rest of the game. However, not much can be made out of the preseason fixtures where conditioning and fitness is more important than the results.
Nevertheless, getting one over your biggest rivals certainly is a feel good factor and with the £75million man already looking like he can do something extraordinary, this season could be the one where we finally pick up the Premier League title after the Sir Alex era.
Lukaku’s goal certainly got a number of us excited and it is no surprise that Twitter flooded with reactions of the win.
What a finish from Lukaku last night. Game was irrelevant but always good to beat city #MUFC pic.twitter.com/nBSRyzpwYW

Incredible how all the “first touch” critics of Lukaku are beginning to seek cover. They said he didn’t score on his debut like others. Now. pic.twitter.com/bgePyasf0W

Lukaku: You didn’t tell me scoring goals was so easy on this side.
Rashford: Soft work. pic.twitter.com/w2Mf8J96Zy

Waking up on a Friday to a Pogba assist, Lukaku gun finish and Ederson arse clownery. Not bad.

I know it’s pre season but I’m starting to get genuinely excited about Lukaku, Pogba, Mkhitaryan and Rashford. Add 2 more and we’re sorted.

Lukaku’s appetite for goals is quite healthy. He will bang in loads of goals for United. I don’t care what else he does on the pitch. GOALS!
