£60m Top Jose Mourinho Target Wants Manchester United Move – Woodward Ready To Sanction £50m

Eric Dier

Jose Mourinho seems to be weaving his magic once again in the transfer market as Eric Dier has set his sights on playing for us next summer. The Daily Star reports that the 23-year-old English midfielder wants to join Manchester United and is willing to leave Tottenham.

This seems to be a bit of a ‘cops and robbers’ transfer window as our original target for the defensive midfield spot was Nemanja Matic. However, Chelsea are furious we got the jump on Romelu Lukaku and are not willing to sell the Serbian to us. (Evening Standard)

Thus, we have set our sights on landing the midfielder from Spurs and Dier is also keen on working with Mou next season.

The report also claims that we are willing to put in £40 million for Dier but Spurs want close to £60 million for the 23-year-old who can also play in the heart of the defence.

While £60 million would be a bit much for a player that couldn’t hold his place in the starting XI last season, Ed Woodward is set to bid £50 million for Dier, which Daniel Levy could accept as a compromise.

Dier reportedly earns £70,000-a-week at Spurs and with us looking to sign him, knows that he can double that up should he join. The Englishman was also used as a central defender last season and not keeping a central midfield place in the Spurs side could be another reason why he is willing to move.

A successor to Carrick?

Mou might see him as a natural successor to Michael Carrick, who is getting a bit old in his holding midfielder role. The problem with Dier would be his distribution and ability to control the midfield, though he would give us a greater physical presence in the heart of the park.

We already have done a couple of great deals in the summer in Lindelof and Lukaku joining the side and Dier joining us would be setting us up for a charge not only on the Premier League but even the Champions League.

Mou does need to bring in a couple of other world-class players into the side and the way in which this window is going, don’t be surprised if we spend millions on a few other names too.
