Man United Could Renew Interest To Sign Bayern Munich Superstar – Thanks To Agent’s Comment

Lewandowski's agent has ruled out a move to Manchester United.

Manchester United have received positive signs (Independent) that we might be able to complete the signing of Robert Lewandowski, who has been a long-term transfer target for Jose Mourinho, after the striker’s agent confirmed some unhappiness at Bayern Munich.

United are in the market for a couple of top centre-forwards and we have been linked with the likes of Alvaro Morata and Andrea Belotti. However, negotiations with Morata have been going ahead for so long that United are becoming nervous about the situation. Jose Mourinho has clearly indicated that he would like to have his top signings completed before the start of the pre-season on July 9. This would enable the new signings to settle in quickly into the team.

Lewandowski has been one of the top centre-forwards in European football over the last couple of seasons. He managed to finish with an amazing tally of 43 goals in just 47 matches last season. However, it is understood that the Poland international is not clearly happy with Die Roten manager Carlo Ancelotti, who came to the club last season as a replacement for Pep Guardiola.

After having spent three years at the German club, the Polish striker may have set his sights on a move away from the Allianz Arena as Metro reports that the striker is unhappy because the club did not back his bid to finish as the Bundesliga top scorer for the previous campaign with Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang edging the Polish striker out for the honours.

Speaking on the issue, Lewandowski’s agent Maik Barthel was quoted as saying by the Metro:

“Robert told me that he got no support and that the coach gave no call to help him in the last game to win the top-scorer title.”

At 28 years of age, Lewandowski is at the peak of his career. Bayern Munich will demand a hefty fee in order to sell him. However, United may be ready to work out a deal, as the club are becoming concerned about the possibility of signing Morata.

Since Real Madrid are uncertain about the future of Cristiano Ronaldo next season, it is understood that the Spanish outfit are not ready to let Morata leave. Only when the future of the Portuguese superstar is resolved will this transfer happen, and it may be too late for Jose Mourinho’s wishes. Hence, United are preparing a backup option and the encouraging statements from Lewandowski’s agent is a cause for concern within the Bayern Munich camp.

Bayern Munich have enjoyed tremendous success since signing Lewandowski on a free transfer, but he is on enormous wages. United will have to pay up a huge sum of money in order to sign Lewandowski.
