Manchester United To Announce £60m Second Summer Signing Next Week

Alvaro Morata

Manchester United are moving closer towards completing the signing of Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata, according to various reports coming out of Spain. United have made the signing of the 24-year-old as the priority. We completed the signing of Victor Lindelof from Benfica recently. Now, Chief executive Ed Woodward’s entire attention is upon bringing Morata to Old Trafford. It is believed that we have reached personal terms with the player even before agreeing a transfer fee with Real Madrid. Now according to COPE (h/t Metro), we might announce Morata’s arrival as early as next week.

Morata comes from the back of a successful campaign after scoring 20 goals in all competitions. The striker also went on to achieve great amount of success by lifting the Champions League and the La Liga title. This is Alvaro Morata’s second Champions League medal, but it is understood that the player is not entirely happy with life at the Santiago Bernabeu due to the lack of regular first-team football.

However, Manchester United will be able to offer that, especially as Jose Mourinho needs a centre-forward following the departure of Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Wayne Rooney has also been left out of some key team pictures uploaded on social media sites. This also appears to be a sign that the England international is on his way out. Morata will be joining up with United as the key centre forward alongside Marcus Rashford.

Real Madrid went to great lengths in order to bring back Morata after a season in Juventus, but Manchester United are growing increasingly confident about completing the deal by next week.

It will be massive if we announce the deal next week as it would send out a massive statement to our rivals. Alvaro Morata is an excellent striker and would be a wonderful addition to our already high-quality squad. Another important factor in this transfer is that we’d be announcing the player even before the beginning of the pre-season tour.
