While the actual story would be short, the whole saga has probably been cooked up by the media just for the sake of it. A lot of newspapers have had a major role in this and credits to them for keeping things buzzing out of nothing.
Anyway, the latest news regarding De Gea’s future is in our favour and that doesn’t mean it all ends here. According to Spanish TV show El Chiringuito (h/t The Sun), Real Madrid are set to end their pursuit of David de Gea and instead stick with Keylor Navas for one more year, before attempting to sign the sensational Gianluigi Donnarumma.
So yes. Now that the David De Gea saga has become too old and too obvious for people to believe, the media are now probably trying to convert the David De Gea to Real Madrid saga into Gianluigi Donnarumma to Real Madrid saga.
Frankly, these reports don’t even matter anymore. De Gea seems well settled at Old Trafford and is a big player in the Manchester United dressing room. He is a contender for the captain’s armband and why would he want to leave the club that has given him so much?
The fans love the best goalkeeper in the world and want him to stay. He is on his way to being recognised as a Manchester United legend. of course, he is a Spaniard and his heart might always crave for life in Spain but De Gea has been here for so long that it would be hard for him to quit Old Trafford. The last time he tried to do so, it did not happen and the fact that he signed a new contract after that shows that he has put everything behind him and moved on.
