Cristiano Ronaldo Responds To Real Madrid’s Move To Sign David De Gea

Ronaldo

Ah! That man has spoken about David de Gea rumours! The guy who last won the Ballon d’Or with Manchester United before moving to Real Madrid has delivered his verdict on our beloved Spaniard’s links to Real Madrid.

Cristiano Ronaldo responded to the rumours linking David de Gea with a move to Real Madrid and his response wasn’t anything out of the ordinary. He failed to add further speculation and played it down quite diplomatically. Can’t blame him, can we? Ronaldo admits David De Gea is a ‘very good keeper’ but played down Real Madrid’s chances of signing the Manchester United No.1.

David de Gea has long been linked with a move to Real Madrid but he seems settled at Old Trafford as of now and there are no signs of any discomfort. De Gea is easily one of the best goalkeepers in the world and it is hard to see United letting go of such an outstanding talent.

David De Gea

Ronaldo, who doesn’t think De Gea will arrive, says that Madrid will make one or two signings in the summer. Talking to La Sexta (h/t Metro), he said:

“Keylor Navas is Real Madrid’s goalkeeper. De Gea is a very good keeper but he is at United. They talk about 50,000 footballers every year and they are always the same. Of the players they talk about, maybe one or two will arrive and that’s it.”

Irrespective of whether there is interest from Real Madrid or not, it is important for Manchester United to hold on to David de Gea. He is now one of the longest-serving players at United and is seen as a captaincy material by the players (ask ex-teammate Bastian Schweinsteiger).

Surely, De Gea would know the value of the captain’s armband at Old Trafford and it would be so prestigious for him to be the skipper of Manchester United. The Spaniard would not want to miss out on such valuable things and move to a club where the fans boo their own legends and superstars. We love De Gea way too much and he would be knowing it too.

If De Gea is a wise man, he would certainly reject Real Madrid and stay with Manchester United.
