Wow o wow! The reports linking Manchester United with superstars in world football never seizes to amaze us, isn’t it? Such are the weight of the news emerging about United’s transfer activities.

Anyway, the latest news is that Manchester United are set to negotiate a deal for Gareth Bale of Real Madrid once the Champions League final is completed. Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo have reported that Manchester United are waiting to see if Gareth Bale is not in the starting lineup for the final of the Champions League, before stepping up their chase to sign the Welshman from Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.

Bale is undoubtedly one of the finest footballers in the world but his injuries have curtailed his growth. The phenomenon that he was at Tottenham, bigger things were expected from the Welshman when he joined Real Madrid. However, former Manchester United ace Cristiano Ronaldo remains the king at Santiago Bernabeu as Bale continues to try and prove his worth at the Spanish capital.

This season, Bale has managed to make a mere 26 appearances for Real Madrid. But despite being sidelined for long periods, the Wales international has a respectable tally of 9 goals and 5 assists for his side.

In fact, Bale has spent the last month on the sidelines as well, having picked up a calf injury in the El Clasico against Barcelona. He has, since, made a recovery to make himself available for this week’s UEFA Champions League final against Juventus in Cardiff.

The Premier League heavyweights have been eyeing a deal for Bale for a long time now, but they believe that they can tempt the player to make the switch to Old Trafford in the summer if he does not make the starting eleven on Saturday.

Gareth Bale would be a welcome addition at Old Trafford despite the amount of attacking options available to Jose Mourinho. Our squad is certainly strong enough to mount a title challenge but maybe one or two additions short. Injuries to key personnel did play a part in our difficult season but overall, the squad seems strong.

Nevertheless, it would do no harm to try and bolster the squad further as it will only make us more fearsome. Money has never been a problem for us and if the report is to be believed, then Manchester United are doing themselves a huge favour here.

Do you think Bale will finally join Manchester United?
