Manchester United have been placed on red alert after being made aware of the sudden development with regard to a Real Madrid superstar. It has been reported by the Express, that the Spanish outfit may consider the possibility of selling Gareth Bale in the summer. Madrid bought the former Tottenham winger three years ago. While he has been immensely successful in terms of lifting major honours, his personal statistics have not been at the same level Madrid had hoped for while signing him.

Since his move to the Santiago Bernabeu, Gareth Bale has managed to win the Champions League twice, FIFA Club World Cup once, UEFA Super Cup once, and the Copa del Rey once. The only title missing from the collection is the Spanish La Liga, and even that may be collected at the end of the campaign with Madrid placed as favourites to win the title. However, he has managed to score just 67 goals in 149 appearances for the club in the last 4 seasons. While these numbers are considered is good enough for any player, it is certainly not enough for someone who cost £85million.

During the last 4 years, Cristiano Ronaldo has made 190 appearances and has scored a whopping 198 goals. The difference between the two players is startling, and it appears that Madrid are seriously contemplating the possibility of letting Bale return to England.

Manchester United were interested in signing the player before he left for Madrid, and they still retain the interest in the Welshman, The Welshman is at the peak of his career at 27 years of age. A club interested in the possibility of signing Bale will find it difficult to land the player, as the Spanish outfit would look to recoup most of the money they paid to Tottenham for signing the player.

Bale is currently on the sidelines with yet another injury, and it may rule him out for the rest of the campaign. In his absence, Ronaldo has once again been on fire and has scored two hat-tricks in his last two Champions League games.

Real Madrid fans will also be surprised at the fact that an underperforming player like Gareth Bale’s position at the club is being considered, while the club continue to retain faith in Karim Benzema, who has been a major disappointment.
