Manchester United Transfer News

Torino forward Andrea Belotti and Everton ace Romelu Lukaku are reportedly on the radar of Manchester United, who are said to be keen on signing a striker to replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic in case the Swede decides against extending his contract at Old Trafford.

Ibrahimovic’s current contract expires in the summer and there has been no talks about a possible extension to keep the giant Swede at Old Trafford next season.

Andrea Belotti has been absolutely outstanding this season and has scored 26 goals this season in 31 appearances, with 24 of the goals coming in the league. The numbers are quite phenomenal considering his age and experience.

He is currently the joint-top scorer in the Serie A and has a release clause of £86.5m. Belotti is a target for a lot of top European clubs and will not come at a cheap price for sure. United will be forced to spend big if they are to land the Italian forward.

On the other hand, Romelu Lukaku of Everton has 23 goals to his name in the league and has been sensational this season. He is growing in stature with every passing game and is proving his worth. He has not extended his contract with Everton and has made it clear that he wants to win trophies in his career.

The Belgian star scored a brace against Leicester this weekend and increased his goal tally to 23. Everton won 4-2 and following the win, the Toffees boss Ronald Koeman admitted that they will try their best to hold on to the player.

He said: “Everybody knows he’s a key player for Everton and we will try to do everything to keep him here but the final decision is always with the player. Everyone knows he has his own ambition but we will try our best.”

His words clearly show that there is little hope within the Everton camp to keep the player beyond this season.

Lukaku is a top target too for many European biggies and will certainly not be available for a low price, even though he is willing to leave the club.

Nevertheless, if United decide to go for any of these 2 players, then they have to stump up a huge sum of money to land them.
