It finally looks like the Ashley Fletcher saga might be coming to a close, with West Ham agreeing a £1m deal for former Manchester united striker Ashley Fletcher.

Fletcher was a free agent when he joined from Manchester United last year and the deal was heading towards being decided by a tribunal. However, West Ham have now made a fresh offer and things seem to be settling down.

Fletcher has started just 2 Premier League games for West Ham this season, despite scoring at Old Trafford in the EFL Cup earlier. Since regular games could have pushed his price up, Fletcher was not used by Bilic exclusively.

This £1m deal would mean Ashley Fletcher getting more game time, which would be a massive boost for the young and talented striker. The England under-20s starlet has shown interest to play and help West Ham’s fight against relegation.

Fletcher earlier spoke about his move to West Ham:

“I just thought the decision was right for me and for my family; it was time for me to go and make a career for myself. Manchester United offered me a new contract, but in terms of what I wanted, it was not right. It wasn’t about anything financial; it was just about my career and my progress. What they were offering and their ambitions for me did not match mine.”

“Because I was out of contract, there were a few teams already aware of my situation and they were coming with bigger contracts and bigger promises for me to progress my career. I would say a two-year contract was not what I was expecting. It was difficult to turn Manchester United down, but you’ve got to think of your career.”

Fletcher has scored one goal in 17 appearances for the Hammers, which came against United, in the EFL Cup last November.

Now that his future is settled, the time might finally have begun for Fletcher to play regularly and develop into a player everyone expects him to be.

Only time will tell if Manchester United would regret losing Ashley Fletcher.
