Jose Mourinho Looks To Take Advantage Of Arsenal’s Situation And Sign Star Duo

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Mesut Ozil

Manchester United Track Arsenal Duo Oxlade-Chamberlain And Mesut Ozil

Boom! Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is believed to be monitoring Arsenal duo Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Mesut Ozil. This news is as bizarre as it sounds but there is every chance of Manchester United signing at least one of these two players who are rumoured to be unsettled.

Signing both the players may not be a possibility but bringing either one of the two players might play into the hands of Jose as there is so much uncertainty around the Emirates Stadium.

There is no news about Arsene Wenger’s future at Arsenal and hence Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez are stalling on their new deal. Oxlade-Chamberlain was brought to Arsenal by Arsene Wenger and it makes sense for the player to consider his future at the club just in case the manager calls it quits.

Mourinho previously tried to sign Oxlade-Chamberlain as part of the deal which brought Petr Cech to Arsenal in 2014. The swap request was rejected by Arsene Wenger and Cech’s move to north London eventually ended up sanctioned by Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich, who overruled the Portuguese coach’s request.

The Ox has impressed in recent weeks with his brilliant performances in central midfield, notably against Southampton in the 4th round of the FA Cup where the Gunners won 5-0. This might be one of the primary reasons why Mourinho wants the England international at Old Trafford.

On the other hand, Mesut Ozil is yet to sign a contract extension with Arsenal and his current deal expires in the summer of 2018. Ozil will be entering the final year of his contract at the start of next season and if Jose manages to get the player this summer, it will surely be on the cheap.

A player of Mesut Ozil’s quality will surely be great for Manchester United as Mourinho has already worked with the player during his time at Real Madrid. Thought Mesut has not managed to replicate his brilliant 2015/16 campaign, he still very much remains a world-class player and there is no doubt about it. Jose will surely know how to get the best out of the German.

With Michael Carrick’s future up in the air, and Marouane Fellaini being inconsistent with his performances, it might be a nice idea for Jose Mourinho to try and sign someone like Oxlade-Chamberlain, who can operate as a winger, as well as a central midfielder. The unavailability of Carrick and Pogba has put Mourinho under great pressure to select his team and this will surely be playing on the back of his mind when he pursues Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Though the possibility of this deal happening is as rare as a human being escaping a shark’s grasp, this transfer saga will be worth keeping track of.
