Ander Herrera Makes Stunning Claim About De Gea’s Future At Manchester United

Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera has made a stunning claim that David De Gea’s future could be up in the air as speculations about the Spanish shot-stopper’s potential switch to Real Madrid keeps lingering in the media.

Herrera revealed that anything could happen in the summer if Real Madrid decide to give a strong go in landing David De Gea from Manchester United. The 26-year-old is under contract at Old Trafford until at least 2019.

He said: “I tried not to bring up the De Gea to Real Madrid topic. It’s difficult for him to one day be at one place, and then to be at another the next. He learned a lot from this. It has made him more mature. I want him to be the one defending Manchester United’s goal. Hopefully it will be like that, but anything can happen in football.”

Herrera’s comments are sure to cause more confusion regarding the goalkeeper’s future and it hasn’t come at a right time as well. With United still competing in the Europa League and for a top-4 finish in the league, there is plenty left to play for and the media speculation is sure to unsettle the Spanish keeper in the coming days.

The David De Gea to Real Madrid transfer saga has been going on for years now and somehow David is still a Manchester United player. His stature at Manchester United is unrivalled and is one of the very few players in the current United team who are eligible to wear the captain’s armband.

It appeared as though De Gea settled down after the deadline day collapse of his move to Real Madrid back in the summer of 2015, when Louis Van Gaal was in charge of Man United.

De Gea has made 37 appearances so far this season and has not conceded in 12 of those games. He has an astonishing claim percentage of 99% in the league games, where he has made 27 appearances. He has also made an average of 1.59 saves per game and has been a consistent performer for Manchester United by all means.

He is the only player to have won Sir Matt Busby Player Of The Year award 3 times consecutively, and stands level with Cristiano Ronaldo with 3 awards.

Letting go of a player of such calibre and class would be a disaster for Manchester United as it would be nearly impossible to replace one of the top three goalkeepers in the world.

When will the David De Gea transfer saga end? Nobody really knows.
